Creative Schools Coláiste Dún an Rí is thrilled to have been chosen as the only school in Co. Cavan selected to participate in the Creative Schools pilot Arts Programme during the 2018-2019 school year. The Creative Schools Team at the Arts Council stated that they are delighted to have Coláiste Dún an Rí as one of the 150 participating schools nationwide. The primary aim of the Creative Schools project is to put the arts and creativity at the heart of children’s and young people’s lives. Over the upcoming school year, the Arts Council will support the school to develop and begin to implement the school’s own Creative Plan. Working with a Creative Associate, the school will be supported to understand, develop and celebrate its engagement with the arts which will empower it to bring about real changes in the way the school works. As a Creative School, Coláiste Dún an Rí will draw on the range of resources within the school and wider community to develop new ways of working that reinforce the impact of creativity on student learning, development and well-being. The children and young people in the school will have a central role in this process. The Principal of the school, Mr. Fergal Boyle expressed his delight at being one of the successful schools and praised the teaching staff for their promotion of the visual, literary, musical and dramatic arts in the school. He praised the work of the Arts committee within the school and looked forward to working on the pilot project.
