Fergal Boyle Wellbeing Week Last week in Coláiste Dún an Rí marked our annual Wellbeing Week. The week was filled with activities to promote student wellbeing. To start the week the whole school was invited to listen to our guest speaker, Shane Carthy. Shane plays inter-county Gaelic footballer for Dublin. He was a member of the Dublin squad that won the 2016 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and 2016 National Football League. Shane spoke about how he struggled with his mental health and explained that by reaching out to those around him and letting them know he was struggling it allowed him to get the help he needed to deal with his mental health. His story is incredibly brave and was warmly recieved by all students and staff. Over the course of the week all first and second year students participated in "A Mile with a Smile". During their SPHE class each group went for a walk around the community accompanied by their teacher. There was lunchtime activities organised for the students to encourage them to be more active. All third year students received training on CPR as part of the CPR4Life programme by the Irish Heart foundation. It is hoped that ths training will equip our students with potentially life saving skills.
